An Ending

When Nathan, an unpopular Kiwi high school student, wakes one morning to hear news of a mysterious communication black out on the other side of the world, he immediately suspects the worst.

As the media provides information that this black out region is slowly spreading across the globe, he witnesses his family and township react in both fear and confused indifference, while exploring theories of nuclear power catastrophes, Hadron Collider disasters and religious allegory. As the day progresses and shocking truths are brought to light, Nathan comes to realise that his family is not the cohesive unit that he has always perceived. Fuelled by mortal concerns, he spends an afternoon in attempt of sexual gratification and undoing past wrongs.

Captivated by sparsely detailed broadcasts of a potential apocalypse, the prospect of spending one last day on earth forces Nathan to question his misspent life and confront the issues that have, much like the gradually disappearing planet, slowly been pulling his family into the void.
