In the newsroom of a commercial television station things are not going well. Ratings are at rock bottom and the star anchor Andy is under enormous pressure from the bosses. The axe is about to fall and he knows it.
In the course of a day’s filming he comes across a little ‘off the record’ info. If it fell into the wrong hands it would put a group of moronic political militants at odds with an equally vacant Auckland gang. Seeing that he’ll have the inside track on the story he makes sure that the right words finds the wrong ears and the farce turns bloody.
Andrew is the first at every story and the toast of the network. What started as cutting a few corners quickly gathers momentum – the bosses, politicians and the public jump on board, clamouring for the next instalment.
It’s clear that the only way out for Andy is to ride this one to the bitter end. When it comes the news cameras are rolling, capturing the biggest television event in New Zealand’s history.
