The earth is now uninhabitable. Attempts to continue living here have failed and humanity needs to escape. But escape means a long, slow voyage through space at sub-light speeds. Everyone must be cryogenically frozen and wake only when they reach a new planet. A group of four people have undergone the first long term cryogenic sleep trial. They are test subjects at a small facility. The outcome of the experiment will determine whether space travel is possible. The planet's situation has got dramatically worse during the trial and unless they leave now, it will be too late. Everyone needs the trial to have been a success.
The sleepers are woken. At first, they appear to be well. But one of the sleepers starts telling stories of long lucid dreams. The dreams have affected them all, but they don't really know how, or what that will mean, only that they must confront the desperate pressure for them to be well...
