On christmas break from Auckland University, Finn and Olly, keep each other in trouble. Finn constructs maniacally harebrained schemes while fun loving Olly goes along for the ride and sometimes further.
Their weed connection, Bryce, has an encyclopedic knowledge of conspiracy theories and a DSLR camera. Finn tells Bryce he will film some boobies at a pool party and the boys borrow the camera.
Inside Olly's bedroom they film 'candle city' their stoner altar / precarious fire risk. Finn proposes that they could become digitally immortal by filming everything they do, since their real memories will die. They proceed to treat the camera like a newborn child and name it 'Floyd'.
At Finn's apartment Bryce mistakenly leaves behind 800 L.S.D. trips. Finn coerces Olly to buy them flights to Nelson for the ultimate summer of glory.
In the South Island their bungled attempts to sell the L.S.D. find success at a hillside trance party. Then things go haywire when customers start to come down hard and Olly's dreamgirl shrugs him off. The boys split with a plastic bag full of cash.
After hitchhiking to Queenstown, Olly becomes aware that a lot of Finn's grandiose schemes are at his expense. Finn proposes a chill out - a whimsical trip to the moon, via central Otago. When they stumble across giant sandstone cliffs, Olly recognises it as the real 'candle city' and self administers a heroic dose of L.S.D.
Inside 'candle city' the boys friendship and sanity are pushed to a place beyond fantasy. A place where remembering everything is more essential than ever and only 'Floyd' can prevent them from completely losing it.
