Girl, Disembodied

A “Hand-Out Collaborative” FILM
WRITTEN BY Alwyn Dale & Becca Barnes

Puberty has hit eleven year old Henrietta early, and she is mortified by the unwelcome attention it brings from her peers on the netball team. Everything changes when her brain is stolen and psychically augmented by DIY madman Artus. Free from the prison of her blossoming body at last, Henrietta’s brain finds itself trapped in a jar... with new telekinetic abilities!

After escaping, Henrietta’s brain must possess people on a rampage through Wellington with Artus’ doomsday cyborg octopus on her heels. Henrietta must reconcile with her burgeoning womanhood to defeat Artus' monster and win back her friends before their netball final.

Through a haze of 50’s sci-fi tropes, GIRL, DISEMBODIED is the tale of a young girl struggling with changes in her body as she finds her place in the world.
