The Operational Services team at the Department of Occupational Safety always like to keep it fresh. Not content with the 3rd placing their indoor netball team received the social committee are looking for new opportunities to build morale. So far the team have sponsored a child, run a ‘Stars in Their Eyes’ evening, and have regular wear-a-hat-Thursdays. Now Denise from accounts has come up with a cracker idea – have the staff join the local corporate Lasertag league. The only problem is that these guys have no idea which way round to hold a phaser, let alone generate bonus kill points with it.
Enter Phil Campbell.
Phil is the team’s IT support technician. Dressed in black and smelling of Mountain Dew, when he is not crafting his black obsidian monolith on Minecraft; Phil is answering IT queries with curt two word emails.
But in the world of competitive Lasertag Phil is a boss. Through his leadership and uncanny instinct within the laser maze the team destroy all that come before them and they appear poised to take out the Bronzed Phaser championship, bringing glory to the agency voted least likely to be missed in the case of restructuring.
But Phil’s past is about to be revealed. In the 1970s he was part of an experimental S.I.S. unit who invented Lasertag as a computer simulation named QuasarEliteMaxxZone. Its purpose was to protect New Zealand’s one computer from viral attacks from Australia. Unfortunately QuasarEliteMaxxZone has become sentient…
To take out the championship this ragtag bunch of office dweebs is going to have to enter the laser maze Phil designed 30 years earlier, save New Zealand’s digital security and learn valuable lessons about working together.
A cross between ‘Office Space’ and ‘Aliens’, this action-comedy is the first film to be filmed at Laser Strike.
