Headhunter Smith and his partner Headhunter Harris track down Mutants and cut off their heads to protect what remains of human society from the threat of Mutants polluting the gene pool. Smith and Harris carry out a routine execution at a newly identified Mutant family home, but Smith is caught off guard by a young girl who uses her mutant power to awaken his brain’s disabled empathy centre and suddenly finds himself unable to kill her. Harris attempts to finish the job, but Smith takes him out and flees with the girl. Now wanted fugitives, Smith and the girl escape the city and trek through the Forbidden Zone in search of the rumored Mutant Sanctuary. As they journey, Smith must deal with the guilt of his past and in an effort to redeem himself, protect the girl from savage Unknowns and a pursuing Headhunter Harris.
