HONE HEKE VS THE SHE WOLVES

A “Idle Hands” FILM
WRITTEN BY Colin Mitchell

1845. Northland.
A group of men burst into Kororaeka township, armed with muskets, double-barrel guns and tomahawks.
Hone Heke, their charismatic leader, brandishes an axe and hacks the colonial flagstaff to smithereens and orders his men to massacre everyone.
Drenched in blood, they fall back to his pā on the shores of Lake Omapere, where they are surrounded by overwhelming numbers of British Troops.
Lead by the pompous Colonel William Hulme, the British deliver a heavy shelling to the pā, the first time rockets have ever been used on Maori.
Sensing the tribe weakening, Hulme orders his men to attack, but Heke has positioned his troops outside in the forest and Hulme’s soldiers walk into a bloodbath.
As Hulme retreats, Heke’s men begin to gather the dead and wounded. Among the injured are three horrifically disfigured young girls of jawdropping beauty. While Heke debates what to do with the three mysterious strangers, his men put the pa under lockdown, so that noone can get in - or out.
Night falls.
The three women have made miraculous recoveries and their only sign of injury is goosebumps, no matter how warm they are. Heke puts the girls into quarantine, but the women are gorgeous, charming, seductive – and soon they have convinced their guards to let them out of their cells. The tribe erupts into violent sexual jealousy.
As the moon rises, sexual appetite is not the only thing that Heke will have to worry about. The girls transform into bloody-thirsty, superhuman werewomen and Heke and his men will have to battle to survive the night.
In the tradition of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, or Utu meets From Dusk Til Dawn, this is a rollicking grindhouse tale of mana, courage and violent, hairy babes.
