How to give up the Benefit

A “The Casses” FILM
WRITTEN BY Andrew Cass

Herman Levin, Grumpy but lovable sickness beneficiary of 16 years, has the perfect life. Everyone treads carefully around him, and he plays the sympathy card often and well. His world is turned upside down by winning lotto in his small hometown, and Herman is forced to play provider for the first time in his life. Pursued by WINS, gangsters and wayward family, his world crumbles and this documentary follows the hilarious events detailing his shrinking fortune.

Herman's story is told through a young filmaker's in your face documentary style, intended to show the plight of those on the benefit, but he gets much more then he bargained for and reveals the true nature of small town NZ, grumpy old men, weird relatives and the difficulty of leaving a comfortable life with no money.
