Elle Delaterre is a career driven woman, a PR manager in Asset Realisation. On a night out with her new boyfriend her world is shattered as he is fatally shot, in front of her very eyes. As Elle runs from danger, she suddenly finds herself in a city she barely recognizes. As she struggles to make sense of what is happening she discovers that she is no longer in PR, here she is a lethally armed and effective killer working for the very man she just saw murdered.

Over the next few days she finds herself helplessly slipping between these two worlds. Her boss is working tirelessly and desperately to prevent a catastrophic chain of events that will crumble the barrier between worlds. As Elle becomes more aware of the unavoidable predicament she has been thrust into, she unwittingly uncovers hidden agents seeking to collapse the barrier, from both sides. When her boss manages to locate and identify the source of the threat, he orders her to assassinate the lead scientist on the project.

After seemingly disposing of her target, Elle is cornered and shot whilst trying to leave the scene, only to wake up in an unfamiliar body. In this world death is only a problem for the unconnected, disconnected and the poor. Elle discovers that her hit was not successful and events to destroy both worlds continue as planned, despite her best efforts. But following her death, something has changed. Elle is now able to cross at will between the worlds. She races to stop the final event that will herald the creation of a new world, at the cost of the two others. In the end, as forces threaten to tear down the walls of reality, Elle must choose between the boardroom bitch and the armored angel.
