When buying a photo frame for his father’s birthday, Toby McNeill meets a girl called Diana. They hit it off immediately, and Toby invites her to come with him to his families home, despite some apprehensions about his hoarder father and brother. When they get there, Toby’s world comes crashing down as his family reveals Diana doesn’t exist – she’s the girl from the stock photo in the frame he bought. In an effort to help him get over his delusion, his family (and the imaginary Diana) hit the road in their junk filled station wagon to find the real model from the frame. As they deal with the various hurdles of their journey, the McNeills discover that their idiosyncrasies not only help them but help define them. Toby eventually finds the model form the photo and puts the imaginary Diana to rest, but not before finding a new focus for his affections.
