Lonesome Dairy

A “Small But Perfectly Formed Films” FILM
WRITTEN BY Fiona Leitch

LONESOME DAIRY

In a remote corner of West Auckland lies the small coastal town of Lonesome Bay. The inhabitants of Lonesome are the long suffering victims of a band of outlaws, the Johnstone Boys, who steal from the local shops, smash windows, burgle homes and intimidate the few misguided tourists who find their way to the town. The townspeople have had enough, but what can they do? Sam, the local policeman, once a proud and well-respected member of the community, has become a powerless, miserable drunk since his wife left him. Even the town’s hairdresser Trixie, a strong-willed, feisty woman with a big heart, has started to lose hope. And the Bannerjees, the owners of the Lonesome Dairy, have put the shop up for sale. It looks like the sun is about to set on the small town of Lonesome Bay, until…

One day there is a new face in town. A mysterious stranger has arrived to take on the thugs as well as the lease on the old florist’s shop. Could this man be the Johnstone Boys’ nemesis? In between arranging orchids and selling daffodils, the mysterious stranger (whose name is actually Douglas – not that mysterious then) stands up to the gang, encourages the shopkeepers to band together, helps Sam re-discover his self-respect and wins the heart of Trixie. And saves the Lonesome Dairy from falling into the hands of Ma Johnstone, the evil matriarch behind the crime spree.
