Malcolm, an overeager possum hunter, has overheard a tale of an oversized female possum that lives in a forest north of Auckland. What he doesn’t know is the reason for it gigantic size. See - it’s no ordinary possum... It’s just one of many giant mutant possums living in the forest, created when an evil corporation dumped chemical sludge into a stream.
Malcolm wants the prize and decides it’s not a bad father/daughter bonding exercise either, so takes his reluctant teenage daughter Janey along in order to teach her a little something about the great outdoors and ways of the world.
Their expedition doesn’t start out well when their car breaks down on the outside of the forest. Luckily they find assistance in the form of young farm hand Luke and his pothead mate Richie.
Luke reckons Janey's a babe, so he and Richie tag along into the forest, but it’s not long before all of them realize that this isn’t going to be your usual gigantic possum hunt. And when they stumble across the local gang’s weed patch and the local gang, their bid for escape lands them right in the middle of mutant possum territory and a whole lot more trouble.
Barricaded in an abandoned hut they manage to weather the night and mutant possum attack. But daybreak brings a new perspective of their surroundings and bad news. Janey has been taken and what they thought was an empty hut is in fact filled with All Black memorabilia: Jerseys, boots, Buck Shelford’s testicles. When they also uncover scrum machines, tackle pads and the 1924 Invincible All Blacks, who are in fact aliens and John Key’s election winning puppets, they end up uncovering more than they bargained for!
