In Wellington City exists a secret underground ring of those who call themselves PIGEON HUNTERS. Operating by hearing alone in the dead of the night, these ruthless killers are hired under the table to hunt in stealth and rid the city of pigeon infestation.

When beneficiary Troy's girlfriend threatens to leave him if he cannot hold down a job, he reluctantly applies for the position of ‘city cleaner’. When Troy arrives for his first night of work, he finds that he has accidentally signed up to travel the roofs of Wellington secretly shooting pigeons and bludgeoning their babies.

Unskilled and unable to make a kill the dark, Troy is paired with hardass veteran hunter Gunther. Gunther’s dubious training methods teach Troy the dirty tricks of the filthiest trade, and soon Troy is enjoying the sensation of brutally murdering hundreds of pigeons in a night. Outstripping even Gunther in pigeon killing skills, Troy becomes addicted, trawling the city in a Zen-like state looking for more winged rats to destroy. But with the other Pigeon Hunters out of work and bloodthirsty, Troy soon finds himself pitted against something much bigger than a pigeon. Troy must battle both his addiction and the men who gave it to him, save his failing relationship, and emerge a better man.

PIGEON HUNT is one man’s journey through addiction, self discovery and pigeon killing in the darkness of Wellington City.
