The story begins with Tawhito (Wise) an ancient tohunga (Expert/Priest) at the dawn of the colonisation of this land and pays witness to the near extinction of his people as the catastrophic consequence’s of the official colonisation policy plays itself out.

Knowing that both him and his people’s survival appear lost forever, he sets upon a cunning plan to ensure their ultimate survival.
Tawhito (Wise) an ancient tohunga (Expert/Priest) uses all of the ancient mystical knowledge within him to summon forth the collective spirit of his ancestors “Atua”(Tui Bird) and in the process makes a bargain which costs him his life.
