A dark tragi-comedy surrounding the 15/16 year old Cory Phillips and his introduction to Chatworth High School, where students are oppressed by sports mad staff and divided between two social groups, one lead by Randall Curtis, who is obsessed with the idea of conforming all the other students to his ways, and the other lead by the dangerously liberal, anti-authoritarian Tomas Cannon. Phillips observes the conflict between the two groups, Curtis and Cannon's relationships with students, teachers and each other, as well as the other bizarre nuances which plague the school.
