The Backpacker

A “Thumbs Out Pictures” FILM
WRITTEN BY Ian Craig Young Brown

It’s the morning of New Years Eve, and there is a killer on the loose in rural New Zealand. On her way to her friend’s farm, Laurie picks up a backpacker named Ben travelling through the country on a once in a lifetime trip. He’s quiet, polite, and ever so slightly strange. Despite this she invites him back to the farm where she and group of friends are throwing a party for the night’s festivities. Ben declines on account that he’s not too good with people, but after some convincing persuasion by Laurie he agrees, and soon is surrounded by a bevy of beautiful girls and flowing alcohol. As the party gets wilder and wilder Ben soon finds himself getting out of control and everything fades to black.
Ben wakes up to find himself stripped to his underwear, lying in the center of a chalk pentagram covered in strange symbols. Circling him are his fellow partygoers, now robed and chanting. He soon realizes that he has become the lamb for their sacrifice. Ben must endure torture and devilry as he fights for his life before an ancient rite is enacted in his blood.
