When a town is threatened with disaster it takes a hedgehog, a rat, and an exiled fairy to fight the many unseen forces behind it.
When a neighbourhood rat defends against forces that attempt to harm a young boy. He discovers a larger war of spirits in a battle for land. The hedgehog and the fairy must begin a journey to the fairy realm to get answers. Meanwhile the rat, known as the colonel, must rouse other neighborhood creatures to form an army.
Jerome, the hedgehog, and the fairy named Kutter discover that you can't easily go back somewhere once you've been thrown out of it. Against a larger and unknown foe the colonel must be inventive but it is just a matter of time. He needs the reasons behind the attack and he needs the answers Jerome and Kutter will bring back.
