The Crimson

A “A Shade of Crimson” FILM
WRITTEN BY Ethan Mooney

Cole Mason, an aging retired superhero, finds himself in a voluntarily solitude, deep in the heart of Wellington City. Haunted by the failures of his past and scarred by the loss of his superpowers, Cole drinks most of his days away, reflecting on his times as the crime-fighter ‘The Crimson’.

Though one day, after a drink too many, Cole faces a revelation that his isolation isn’t just of his own will, but that he is truly alone. Throwing aside his drunken habits, Cole decides to turn his life around by getting back into shape and becoming ‘The Crimson’ once more.

As he returns to the streets he is greeted with an unexpected and unpleasant welcome, with civilians mocking his efforts as that of an old man being a copycat of the legendary hero, and cops warning him off the streets out of fear that he will incite more crime in the city.

But one night, Cole stumbles upon the mugging of a family of three at gunpoint. Cole confronts the two thugs, but things go awry. Cole botches his plan of justice, and the two thugs end up leaving a kid parentless.

Thrown into witness protection, Cole finds himself with a target on his back as he tries to set things right. By hunting down those who killed the kid’s parents, Cole discovers that this isn’t any ordinary mugging, and that these thugs may have a connection to his troubled past…
