The Heist

A “Manaaki Pictures” FILM
WRITTEN BY Jodie and Shay Morris

The catch cry was always, “live hard, die young, and leave a good looking corpse”… only problem is – they didn’t bloody die!
Enter Janis and Aroha, a coupla kiwi chicks livin’ life as they’ve always known it, it peaked in the 80’s and why change a good thing. Along with a community of small town folk, friend and foe, the girls uncover a dastardly deed of deceit….
Mullet haired and moustachioed Darryl is Janice’s dodgy ex, and that bloody bastard has ripped off their mate. His crime is unveiled in a swirling, smoke-hazed revelation and Janis and Aroha are determined to set things right. Retribution becomes the name of the game. Only thing the girls hadn't planned on was Jason ‘mad-as-a-meat-axe’ Smith, he’s from out of town, he’s put a payment down and there is no way he’s gunna let those bitches stuff it up.
'The Heist' is a high-spirited, laugh-a-minute, gritty, gravel-road ride set in rural Aotearoa and jam packed with a kaleidoscope of quirky characters. From naturalists to pig hunters, bumpkins to townies, this movie tells the rollicking tale of misadventure and mayhem as the girl's mission twists and turns through a landscape of mishaps.
