When a teenage boy chokes to death in front of a group of horrified students, the investigation simply concludes that is was an unfortunate accident.

However, there are two students who know better.

Bullying, isolation and rejection have brought Molly and Clare together and fate will lead them to stumble upon something that could give them a great deal of power – a curse making device from the Middle Ages known as a Witches’ Ladder.

Intrigued, the two girls start experimenting; at first controlling people and making boys suddenly very interested in them. However, when their curses start to become more extreme and they start taking revenge on those who have wronged them in the past, their ultimate danger becomes each other as guilt and jealousy threaten to break apart what they’d hoped to protect – the power of their friendship.

And as they will soon discover, when the knots of a Witches’ Ladder are tied, they’re not so easily undone.
