The Machine

A “Runaway Films” FILM
WRITTEN BY Joshua Hunter

We're all a part of The Machine. The Machine is part of us. The Machine is clandestine yet indiscreet, loud yet soundless. The Machine is bleeding to death and we will all fall in it's shadow. The Machine is society, structure, solidarity and stability. The Machine is the harbinger of the destruction of Earth.

Set in the near future; follows Maxwell and a group of tightly bonded friends, as they escape the subtle mercilessness of The Machine to live free of the bindings of capitalism, the superficiality of prosperity and the tyranny and greed it fuels. They leave everything they have ever known to writhe free of the clutches of society; finding their solace in nature. The two embark on their journey with one intention; to live. To live as humans were intended to, by foraging and hunting, just as animals do. The two find nature to be unforgiving and nonchalant, and struggle to survive. Their health deteriorates as they go for weeks without proper food, and their mental states suffer. Dissent is rife as they arrive at the brink of death, and Corey, one of the more weak-minded, leads the majority of the group out of the wilderness, to return to the embrace of The Machine. Maxwell, grief-stricken, and left utterly alone, refuses to return and continues his plight.
