It's 1987 and New Zealand's streets are being protected by the most enthusiastic, committed and recklessly impulsive cop duo the world has ever seen: Detective Jack Cannon and Detective Chops.

On the day of Chops' wedding, Chief Junior interrupts the service with info on Dr. Q, the criminal mastermind. They leave Jack’s daughter and Chops' fiancé at the chapel and pursue justice, making it just in time to foil Dr. Q's plans of world domination via time travel, using a Time Traveling Device of his own design. In a flurry of gunfire, the Time Traveler’s destination changes to the year 2012 and a portal opens. All three tumble in, Jack and Chops shooting at Dr. Q as they rocket through the time vortex.

2012 is different; Chief Junior is no longer junior, Chops' fiancé has remarried, and Jack's daughter is missing. Worse, other worldly beings have gained access to Earth through the rips in the time vortex causing chaos and carnage throughout the country. With help from the brilliant Dr. Tess Tessington, Jack and Chops track down Dr. Q and acquire the now-defective Time Traveler.

As time counts down before the world is lost, our heroes must fix the Time Traveler, seal the rips in the time vortex and get home to 1987, all while protecting the world from ghosts, aliens, giants and more. Will romances grow? Will relationships be tested? Can Jack and Chops save the world and live happily ever after? And will Dr. Q return as a laser-shooting robot?… he does.
