An alcoholic, 72 year old widow by her long despised husband Harold, Ngaire Charity Chambers now lives at the Sunset Retirement Village in Te Awamutu with best friend Tui Henare. A domineering, charming, acerbic force of nature Ngaire rules the rest home like a gin fuelled snake, manipulating nurses and residents at her will. But with fatalities brought into question and loyalties owing to Tui, Ngaire’s control of her world is compromised. Favours must be repaid and painful ghosts from the past must be confronted to move forward – if she can indeed she can survive this time. Based on the 2010 Hackman Award winning character created by Samuel Christopher and story developed with Russell Pickering.
