5-piece Ukulele Orchestra 'UKELYPTUS' are on their way to the National Ukulele Championships in Wellington to perform against arch rivals 'The Ukes of Hazzard'
Heading the ensemble is Sean Cotton (Cortese) an out of work actor with a pinchant for big musical theatre. Tanya Burns (Castle-Hughes) is a former Miss New Zealand winner down on her luck and coping with a recent divorce. Leigh Patuwai (Morrison) is an ex-gang member trying to piece his sordid life together to gain the respect of a son he never knew. Angela Cockcroft (Prebble) is a devout Christian trying to recruit followers for her local Church. MC Timbo (Balme) is an aging 1980's Pakeha Hip-Hop MC and Beatbox champion proving that whites guy can be pretty fly.
Along the way their tour bus is stolen and the band must beg, steal and borrow in order to make it to the biggest gig of their lives armed with a song that is hailed as the most difficult piece to perform on a Ukulele "The Devil Went Down To Georgia" Ukelyptus have their eyes set firmly on the big prize.
