UN-LIKING FACEBOOK

A “OUTSIDERS” FILM

It was inevitable really. An entire generation addicted to an invisible dimension. Facebook has now crossed over into real life, people can no longer distinguish between the two worlds. Random status update outbursts in public are common place, inappropriate conversations that were previously reserved for an impersonal digital world, now have no boundaries. People carry around lists of their friends, and randomly add strangers they like the look of in the street. If someone offends them slightly, they cross them out immediately. One man, Adrian seeks help for his behaviour through FA meetings (Facebookers Anonymous), a group that has gained in popularity since the unfortunate poking incident. It is perhaps even more widespread than AA, as the effects of this disease are far more potent than a mere drop of vodka.

Adrian is nine days clean, and this is a very trying time in his life. The love of his life; Lily Alderman has given him an ultimatum; one more status update public outburst and she will leave him. Adrian knows he needs to do something about his problem before he becomes like the others. The others have become so dependent on facebook, they have become essentially like broken ipods, liking inanimate objects incessantly, commenting on everything that moves (including rollercoaster’s and caterpillars), their addiction is so great, they believe they are living in a giant news feed.

Adrian begins a quest to save an entire generation, seeking the one person left that has never created a facebook account. Will he find this person before the others tag him? Can this person influence millions of facebookers, and teach them how to make real friends again? Can Adrian find he or she before he succumbs to stalking his frenemy once more? Will Adrian survive his tenth day sober? One thing’s for certain, the answer is not on facebook.
