Shanta was living in a run down orphanage in the remote Nepalese village of Dhankuta. In one of his meanderings to the woods he mets Santa and his herd of exhausted reindeer . Shanta despite his youth and poverty brings Santa (Shanta has no idea what Christmas/Santa are) vital supplies to restore him back to good health. Santa humbled and uplifted by the generosity and good will of the poor village boy decides to grant him a Christmas he will never forget. Across the globe in New Zealand lives a boy at the top of Santa's "bad list", Sean McGregor. Sean is the antithesis of Shanta. He is spoilt, lazy, bad tempered, nasty and rude. He never appreciates anything his parents give to him and makes his sister's life a living hell. For one Christmas holiday Sean and Shanta's lives will be swapped, unknown to their caregivers and much to the surprise of the boys themselves. This movie will be an inspiring, comical and highly absorbing look at the vast disparities between the rich and the poor, East and West and delve into the true essence of the Christmas spirit. The boys will live for six weeks the lives of each other and in turn change their perceptions of life, the world around them and their feelings towards the people in their life and their homes. For Santa he also is faced with a moral dilemma over what he has done and the plot will meander at times to his thoughts on the changing capitalist consumer world and his role in it. The end of the film will reach a twist as the boys reactions to resuming their normal lives after the bodyswitch. Will Sean have learned to be humble and good? Will Shanta feel dismal at his return to the poverty and hardship of a Nepalese Orphan's life? Will Santa decide to chuck his career in and take up organic farming? A film aimed at kids around the world and the parents who have forgotten the true meaning of giving.
