In an alternate 1983, a 20 year old man, Josh Calhoun is grieving over the abrupt death of his newly wedded wife. While in his depressive state Josh signs up for a space to be a test subject at an R&D company ‘Mercury Technologies’.
3 weeks later, Josh is approved and put through hundreds of tests with new experimental medicines and vaccines. Josh feels uneasy about going to the regular tests and feels paranoid. Meanwhile, a private military company, Ares Defensive contracted Mercury Technologies to develop a small experimental weapon.
About 1 month after the 368 million dollar contract is verified, numerous test subjects die caused by glitches with brain interfaces due to complications with compatibility and are covered up and labeled as freak accidents until one subject survives, Josh.
Conflicted, Josh exhibits a newfound ability, Telekinesis. Josh scared at what he might become goes on an intense chase to escape until he is trapped in a maintenance closet. Too exhausted to escape using his newfound ability, he gets captured by the military personnel.
Josh awakens in a bed drugged and chained. He is confused at what has just happened and realizes he has no memories prior waking up on the laboratory table. Josh then experiences various vivid hallucinations until he bears witness to a horrific event that leaves him scarred for life.
