During an unusually hot, Kiwi summer, 6 long separated friends (John and Tina (the perfect couple); Jessy (the fitness freak); James (the Philosopher), Janet (the hard worker) and Charli (the enigma) ) embark on a road trip for a weekend of adventure, drinking and reminiscing about their Uni days, culminating in attending their 10th anniversary University reunion.
On their way they decide to take a short cut off the main highway down some old metal back roads. Arriving in the small country town of Clearwater Creek they decide to stop and have a break in the peaceful environment.
Wandering the township, they find that the buildings are seemingly uninhabited and abandoned. Having found no trace of anyone in town, they decide to take a swim in the nearby creek to cool off before continuing on their way.
On the way back to the caravan, they notice an old mine entrance buried in the scrub. Trying to explore the entryway, something startles one of the party and they retreat to the township. Upon trying to leave, they find that every road seems to lead them back to the centre of the town.
Blaming their scare and dilemma on tiredness they elect to spend the night in the town and try to leave in the morning when they are refreshed. But this town hides mysteries and the night will bring about the revelation of long buried secrets. Not only those of the friends but the town itself, secrets that will tear this group apart and force them to question what they know about themselves and their own sanity.
Something happened in this town. Many were those who lost their lives trapped in the darkness below the ground. Now they want you to come join them. Be careful how deep you dig.
