Stage hypnotist Blake Rennick's life is in freefall. Nobody takes his career ambitions seriously except his part-time assistant Clarissa; his girlfriend‘s affair is an open secret; and his own crippling neurosis makes him incapable of affecting change. Even his guinea pig Graham seems unimpressed. When his big comeback show is cancelled, he takes a dive from the theatre rafters in an attempt to take his own life.
But Blake's bad luck only worsens when he awakens to find himself encased in a body cast and suspended in traction, unable to speak or move and kept company only by his guinea pig and a trio of fellow accident victims.
Totally immobilised, he can only peer out of his cocoon as his former assistant Clarissa, in her day job as a trainee nurse, pumps him full of mysterious chemicals. Soon he’s under her thrall in a hypnotic dreamscape, a crucial cog in an insidious plot of psychic enslavement.
With Clarissa gaining in power and acolytes, Blake must wage mental warfare to escape his chemical, physical and psychological prison and stop her from enslaving all he holds dear - and more.
