Paternal Rest

Ostracized after his wife’s death, single dad Sam has the baby blues. Sleep deprived and paranoid, he becomes convinced that the house is haunted, and must fight to keep custody of his child from both the authorities and his supernatural tormentor.

A “Zarquon's Fish” FILM
WRITTEN BY Adam Harvey

3am feeds. Nappy changes, constant crying, and the nagging fear that you’re doing it wrong. All perfectly normal challenges for a new parent. But Sam’s support network is non-existent following suspicions that he killed his wife, and in the wee small hours when it all seems too much, he hears and sees things.

Little things at first- whispers on the baby monitor, objects not staying where he left them, baby Jo looking at things he can’t see- but soon sleep deprived hallucinations, paranoia and self doubt develop into full belief in a paranormal presence.

When child services investigate, the signs of poltergeist activity look all too much like neglect and abuse, and with police reopening the investigation into his wife’s death, Sam risks losing his fragile hold on sanity.

As the haunting fully manifests, Sam has to face his guilt over what happened to his wife, stop seeing his daughter as a burden, and stand up as a protective father against the vengeful spirit of his former spouse.

It’ll be the custody battle from hell.
