Psyche is about Alex, a brilliant but arrogant psychologist who has recently received accolades for his theory on preventing teenage suicides. He also was accused of sexually exploiting a 16 year old girl; on whom he was conducting an experiment. Though he and the girl assured it never happened but this damaged his reputation. Alex is a Casanova but unemotional and selfish with all his women he ever was with.
At a school reunion he meets his old and once very close friends Astra, Pete, David and Aimee. He always was interested in Astra but Astra fell for Pete and chose him over Alex. Alex envied Pete which led to group falling apart. Alex still cannot stand seeing Astra and Pete together and gets into an argument with Pete over Para-psychology not even being science but fraud. Pete challenges him to spend a night alone at a haunted mansion he is assisting a research at. Out of his usual arrogance Alex accepts the challenge. The mansion has a history of mental illnesses, sex, violence and copy-cat suicides. All he has to do is to survive the night with an unaltered psyche.
While there he is given a ticking metronome devised to detect paranormal activity and a diary of a 16 year old survivor of that mansion describing every event. As he reads it, he becomes aware of somebody’s presence in the mansion. He tries to hold on to his knowledge of psychology to control his fear but slowly descends into conflict with his own senses. As he goes looking for it deeper, the horror unfolds making him the part of events he just read. He is unable to determine if he controls his mind or his mind controls him, or is it something beyond his understanding.
