Dreams and Nightmares exist, just beyond your reflection.
Your spirit is watching over you, protecting you from all manner of demons and spirits, your own personal guardian angel.
But, people are dying, they and their spirits are being slain, what do you do when in a moment alone you look into your reflection on a pool of water only to see it's face a mask of terror and another's hands at it's neck? A crazy apparition? Perhaps, but those hands are now reaching right out of the waters surface...
A world of spirits exists alongside ours, seemingly a reflection of our own, here our spirit selves live reflecting our inner selves, among them dwell demons and lost souls, with no human selves to nourish them, they seek the life force of others.
A barrier separates the two worlds, but the barrier is not impassable and can sometimes be transparent, for certain people water can provide a window into the spirit world, for these people a puddles reflection does not show their own world but instead offers a view of the spirit world.
The worlds exist in balance, breaches of the barrier are not recommended, so when an office worker named Sam inadvertently crashes through the barrier and right into the spirit world he soon learns that there are many creatures in that world to fear and to avoid.
Then the news stories start appearing, people found dead alone, often no obvious cause of death, but with a puddle or pool of water nearby. Sam is not the only one who knows about the spirit world, but there are many who would kill to keep its existence a secret.
He might be able to ignore it all and go back to his normal life except for the voice in his head, it’s insistent, it’s scared and demanding his attention, if only he could block it out but he can’t, after all it’s not his own, having crossed the barrier and met his own spirit it can now speak to him, whenever it wants.
