Golden Shore High’s First XV are about to play their bloodiest game and no amount of training can prepare them for what’s to come. How do you play fair when a maniacal killer is controlling the game?

Golden Shore High’s First XV are the poster boys of secondary school rugby. They’ve taken out nationals three years running and many of their top players have gone on to professional rugby careers. This year, with a new, inspiring coach and a rigorous training regime, the boys are determined to make it four in a row.

When they’re invited to attend an inter-school training camp, they see this as the perfect opportunity to suss out their competition and give other schools a taste of what they’re in for. Plus, Kerry — the team’s star winger — will be the last of the team to turn 18 on the weekend of the training camp so it’ll be the perfect opportunity to celebrate.

The team arrives at the camp to find that they’re the only ones there, and it looks as though the rundown camp hasn’t been used in many years. Come to think of it, didn’t someone mention it was closed down ten years ago after a group of campers were slaughtered by an escaped convict?

Nonetheless, it’s too late for them to head home so they decide to make the most of their getaway and crack open the keg for Kerry’s birthday.

The beer’s flowing, the music’s up loud, and a pair of lost Swedish backpackers have crashed the party looking for some good old Kiwi hospitality. Things look set for this to be a memorable night. And it will be memorable, because that’s when Kerry’s bloodied body is found on the field hanging from a goal post.

The killer has left a red card — a clear message that no one is leaving this camp alive, and if they try they’ll fall victim to one of the many traps set by the killer. The game has begun…
