Terrorised by what seems to be the ghost of the Bard himself, a theatre company finds that all is not well and it won't end well when a series of grisly murders follow the loss of the most important prop in Hamlet- a human skull!
But the show must go on - who is "to be" and who is "not to be" in this tale of egos, bums on seats and freshly peeled skulls.

When theatre director Carl James decides to stage Hamlet in a run-down theatre he has his work cut out. He needs to save the company with a bold, innovative take on the Bard and besides, he has the hots for acting student Sarah Cotton who he's cast as Ophelia.

After the skull being used for the play is thrown away by the designer and replaced with her handmade origami skull, her decapitated body is discovered in the props room the following morning and her own skull has replaced the origami version.

Carl learns the original skull was that of Lionel Grinder, an unsuccessful actor who left money in his will to the company in 1953 with the stipulation his skull was to be used every 6 years in a performance of Hamlet. If not the company would be cursed.

Keeping this news from the superstitious cast, Carl searches for and finds Grinder's skull.
But with the cast deserting the production and a murder investigation underway Carl reluctantly cancels Hamlet despite the fact it was last performed 6 years ago.

The theatre caretaker goes missing and there's a message written in his blood on the wall
- Perform Hamlet by the anniversary of my death and the curse will be lifted - W.S.
Detective Sergeant Brian Hamm sees the message first and persuades Carl to restart the production - without Grinder's skull. It will lure out the killer and the police will be there in force (some of them in acting roles!) to make an arrest.

But opening night will be like no other. Will Carl save Sarah and will the theatre survive?
Alas, poor Everyone! This night the audience, actors and police are all wondering who is "to be" and who is "not to be" as the carnage begins...
