Rory Beckett is mysophobic. His overwhelming fear of infection has driven him to the isolated town of Naseby in Central Otago where he is trying to rehabilitate himself through exposure therapy.
He is supported by the generous small town inhabitants who accept him and encourage him on his slow steep path to recovery.
However, when industrial progress opens an abandoned mine shaft things begin to change.
The towns inhabitants start showing odd behaviour and before long paranoia and rage start to take over the residents of the once idyllic village.
