Mary Till Death

With his marriage on the brink of collapse, a desperate husband creates an elaborate hoax to stop the woman he loves from walking out of his life.

Wayne is a 45-year-old history of religion teacher with an expertise in the macabre and the occult. He is married to Mary - 20 years his junior and a former student.

Five years in their marriage is near collapse - much to Wayne's despair.

In an attempt to save the relationship, Wayne takes Mary to his family home on the outskirts of a small mountainside town. With his parents away he hopes it will be the perfect setting to win back the affections of his wife. But a huge fight on their arrival results in Mary threatening to leave both the house and the marriage.

When Wayne can only persuade her to stay for one night, he does the only ‘rational’ thing he can think of – he concocts an elaborate hoax by tricking Mary into thinking a psychopathic killer is on the loose nearby. Using an old ham radio, Wayne creates fake news reports to stop Mary from leaving.

When the ever-bold Mary grows skeptical and wants to leave the next night regardless of the ‘threat’ - Wayne, willing to do anything to keep her there, pushes his hoax to the extreme – faking his own death in elaborate style at the hands of the killer. His plan? Heroically return from his apparent demise, saving a grateful Mary and ultimately his marriage.

As he watches Mary from afar, Wayne utilizes items in his father’s tool shed - creating fake blood, crude explosions and blood curdling screams in the distance - keeping his now scared wife barricaded in the house.

When an unexpected visitor arrives and threatens to undermine the whole plan, Wayne is left with the choice of revealing his scheme to Mary and losing the love of his life, or turning his ruse into reality.
